man, I really miss this game...

I was goofing around with the latest build, playing with graphix and other such non-sense, you know non-modding stuff... and just had a huge burst of nostalgia...

I really miss what I created on corbantis... :-(

do we have a list somewhere of decently populated servers other than bask and nova? sure would be nice to stop playing by myself. :-)

Sad

Only server I've read about is http://www.swgemu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90637

My hope is soon that we will be up their with Basilisk as far as uptime and population. Have been working on and off with others sense August 2013 on getting our own Env setup to work with Core3 so Hydian doesn't have to deal with the restart timer anymore, and as of yesterday we have placed this on our Test Center. After we feel that it is stable enough, no more bugs or glitches we will looking at pushing it to our live server.

You do realize that it is a direct violation of the SWGEmu Core 3 License to edit the engine, or to remove the restart timer?

The goal of a development environment in the first place, is to serve as an easy way to contribute source to Core3. Not for you to make your own play server for your friends.

It's also not smart to post about it on a forum that supports SWGEmu.

LOL, you're lying plain and simple about your server's population counter and timer, now. It's artificially inflated in the PHP module.

Lol'd very hard after looking at the script that adds population. Very cute. Not that it's even a script, more like displays a number. Lol.

My simple script was kind enough to display his true population of 12 players this evening. Thank You.

This is to Duffstone....I run the Tarkin server and I try to avoid all the drama that seem to follow everyone else around. I dont make any claims of uberness about Tarkin, just that we do have a small dedicated group of players that are all decent folks, and play well together, and you are welcome to give it a whirl if you like.

As far as the other stuff in this thread, thats not of interest to me. I will be honest, we do not have hordes of players like Basi, but if you make the effort of outreach to the players we do have, it will be reciprocated easily.

Anyway, if you like take a look at http://swgcanon.com and see if what you read suits you (I will also be honest, we are not trying to cater to everyone, so I cannot promise its what you want, but we are earnest about our efforts).

Let's cut the shit and get down to the real issues here, after all I have better things to do with my time then to engage in pointless internet kid drama.

First I'll say that Mod the Galaxy has been a great learning tool for myself and a few others that are on Hydian. So thank you for the public resource.

Now I'll be very blunt

Who said anything about the engine being modified? Do you have some sort of proof or are you just pulling this out of your ass to create a stink? I read his post quite clearly and didn't see any mention about the engine being modified.

Better yet, since you want to act like a legal eagle I'll direct you to a lawyer I worked with at a gaming company, she can help you understand Open Source and IP, http://www.linkedin.com/in/punklawyer

Timer? How is that a lie? Are you claiming someone has developed a super secret weapon that somehow modifies the clocks in your house to read a different time and mask the true time you spend sitting on a server? I don't really understand your point to this, it's as easy as logging onto a server, sitting down and stuffing your face while you watch the clock.

What exactly about his post mentioned anything about current population? All he said was he's hopeful that the server can grow and mature to the level that Basilisk is at.

Second, you're one to talk here about lying. One of the developers on Veers with you (Dreadlow) was invited onto the Hydian staff in June 2013 and he was later caught and banned on July 29th 2013 for handing out Admin permissions to Veers buddies so they could all ruin the Hydian server.

That's real classy and professional.

You do realize the server status PHP file does just that, it displays numbers provided by the remote fsocket connection. Do you understand PHP? I've been doing web development since the 90's which is likely longer then you've been alive.

I'm entertained by the drama over this topic, really. All it shows is the success of Hydian is seen as a threat to you all. Don't blame us because people from your server choose to come play on ours. If you don't like it then you likely need to change something with your server. It's not like we go out of our way to advertise our server at all, it's posted on the SWGEmu forums per the rules and that's it. If other people want to go off and spread the word about Hydian then clearly it's because they have had a positive experience and wish to tell others. Why create a fuss over that?

I'd also like to note that the reason I started Hydian is because of assholes like yourselves. I was sick of the unprofessional attitudes and personal agendas of everyone running the other servers so I said the hell with it and made Hydian with some friends, the rest is history. Poor attitudes contributed to the success of Hydian, just remember that.

And aren't we forgetting something here? Isn't SWGEmu all about the community? You tell us that we shouldn't have a private server because it deters from Core3 development yet you got off to create SWG:ANH? lol, hypocrite much?

http://www.swganh.com/anh_about/

I don't see any mention of Core3 in there.

Cheers

P.S.
Myself and Hydian fully support the SWGEmu and Core3 development. I have supported it since 2006 when they posted the first video on the internet announcing the project.

Vandrel, not gonna bother with quoting all your rhetorical bullshit here, but if you simply download/use another 'vanilla' PHP module and point it to your login servers, it lists like 20-30 people also.

Also I don't care what Pikkon said, you guys are artificially inflating your numbers. That's it. Also you have to be artificially inflating your timer as well, maybe if you actually knew code like you claimed you'd know that the timer is located in the libengine3 which can only really be modified by hex value to bypass the timer, but you'd have to know where to look.

P.S. I'm not Dreadlow so I could care less what he does in his freetime.

Thanks for further proving the points I made
