I am wondering if it would be possible to mod in the Imperial Command Hat in black, and if you could suggest a somehow unobtrusive way of doing it (so people who don't have the mod don't see someone decked out in a black Imperial Uniform with a silly hat on).
Additionally, is it possible to replace the aesthetic look of the mabari armor with Scout Trooper armor?
It is possible to replace one armor with another yes or any item for that matter. Just find the mabari and scout trooper files and rename the scout trooper ones to match the mabari naming, essentially overwriting it. I'm sure you can find some examples of this being done in old mods on various sites.
As for the hat there is no way to mod in an item without it looking different to those without the mod. Since all this is client-side everyone's client would need the modification to see it as you do. The only way around this is to patch the change into the game as a whole. In other words, officially adding the item to the emulator/client. I have no doubt a lot of the wearables in the client which aren't currently accessible in-game, such as the black variant of the imperial hat, will be added as proper items after the emulator itself is 'finished'.

Thanks for the tips.
Would it be possible to replace a less obstrusive item like a necklace to resemble the black hat? That way, people without the modification just see someone with a necklace on as opposed to a soft hat or swoop helmet.
If not, would I be able to swap out, let's say, the headwrap for the black hat? I've found the lmg files for the hat itself, I just need to figure out what files correspond to the headwrap so I can swap them out.
