Who played the Beta?
#1
So I thought it'd be interesting to see who's been playing the recent weekend Beta's of TOR and if so what you though of it, if you're planning on playing live and what class you're going for...

So I played smuggler for the majority of my time during the weekend (majority being several hours a day haha) loved the story and the gameplay and cannot wait to start playing live! I also tried BH for a little bit but didn't really get involved in the story and I played a bit longer on a Sith Warrior character which I thought was pretty awesome too, had a pretty fun story from what I could tell! Thinking Smuggler is going to be my class of choice on live though...

Oh yeah, also going to be playing on a euro server and if the beta server names are kept then it'll probably be Rogue Moon since that's the BETA server I was on...

How about you guys? Big Grin

I played in one of the recent beta weekends and I was really impressed. I made it a point to make one of each class and play through the first 5 levels or so, but I focused on Consular after that in which I got to around level 24 I think. I planned on playing as a Sage in live so I went Shadow during the beta just to see what I'd be missing, turns out I'm not missing much, shadow definitely isn't my playstyle. Tongue

The story part of the game is definitely a cool factor, although I skipped through around 75% of all conversations (excluding group stuff) to save myself the spoilers. Wink

In particular I like the new take on crafting and the graphics are just great. They've been really smart with the graphics because not only are they great for an MMO but they've also chosen a style which wont really age, or at least no where near as quick as something with a more realistic look would. Honestly if I wrote a full review it'd probably span across multiple pages...

I will say the only thing I am disappointed with is the races. I knew I was upset about that before I played in the beta, but it is justified. I'll definitely be playing as a Twi'lek for my main, just for the fact that it's the only real alien race. I'd rather not be a human, or a human with horns, or a green human or a human with a mask. I mean seriously, cyborg as its own race? Definitely feels like BioWare have been lazy with the races, so I hope for several additions to this when the first expansion rolls around, assuming expansions are on the agenda. Smile

As I mentioned on the other board, played a Trooper for a month in April or so, got to 50 and saw all the content that was in at that moment (90% at least of the release content).

Don't want to sound redundant :p but, game has a lot of potential, I just hope it meets it over time. The best part probably is, there is no real grind what so ever, through the entire game.

If you got any questions regarding stuff you haven't seen, ask away.

P.S. Protip; If you want mad cash, get Slicing. On Tatooine there are spots with extreme lockbox spawns (Might be gone at retail, idk), you could get up to 100-200k an hour. Big Grin But even with missions and random Lockboxes, total cash machine.

If that was mentioned to BioWare it probably will be nerfed for launch. That said its an interesting tip, although I'm already decided on Artifice / Archaeology for my main. But I suppose it makes sense for us SWG folk to get slicing on our smuggler characters. Wink

Haha yea. Well I hope they didn't fix it, there are a few spots in game like that, like on Alderaan, you have one outpost that's built like a fort on a small 'hill' or w/e, there are like 50 spawns of lockboxes and by the time you do one full run of the outpost, they already respawn again. It's totally amazing, with no aggro here and everything. Big Grin

On my Trooper I was Scav/Slice/Armormech. Too bad no one used the Bazaar back then, for reasons which are beyond me.

Well on the earlier betas there wasn't a massive population. With the numbers which turned up for the last couple of betas you'd be fighting for them so perhaps there isn't actually enough spawning when it comes to launch. Tongue

EDIT: Us euro emu folks should also try and get on the same server together, get a guild going and whatnot, those of us who didn't bother with the pre-launch guild crap that is. Wink

You do have a point there. :p

I'd join you guys, but I'll probably get the US client and play with THEM. So expensive either way, ugh.

Are they even splitting them up? I assumed you could just switch server tabs like it was in the latest beta.

I am totally on board with this idea! Like I said I'm planning on playing on Rogue Moon if the names are the same, not only because I played it in beta but also because it has a cool name Big Grin
